AFTER 30 WONDERFUL YEARS, CREATIVE SUMMER IS CLOSING ITS DOORS.

Letter to families from David Jackins, Director:

February 9, 2020

Dear Creative Summer Family,

After careful consideration and with a heavy heart, I have decided to resign as Director of Creative Summer at The Mead School. This decision has not come easily.

Since starting the multi-arts program in the summer of 1990, the program has been a labor of love for me. For the past thirty years I have been very proud of the many professional and student artists, performers, educators, filmmakers, musicians, and entertainers who have passed through the doors of the program and are now thriving in their respective areas of creative passions. I am deeply grateful to the wonderful, devoted staff of the program, many of whom grew up as children attending Creative Summer and later returned as teachers, as well as those who have been deeply devoted to the program for decades. I am equally grateful to you, the families, who have entrusted your children to us and allowed them to grow through our program.

As you know the enrollment has declined within the past couple of years, in part due to the multitude of other offerings in the area which have cropped up in recent years. An expensive program to operate due to its professional commitment, The Mead school has decided to discontinue the program.

As unsettling as I find change, I recognize the opportunities and possibilities that are inherent in change, as well. I trust that you all will will continue to explore new and exciting experiences, and that you will share them and keep in touch with Margaret, Alice and me.

With deep appreciation, love, and many fond memories,

Dave Jackins
